Email hosting - Make the right impression
If you have your own website and use it to generate business then you will probably be doing a lot of emailing. Make the most of your domain with a proper company email address, it is far more professional that using a hotmail account and also opens up a lot of options for receiving mail.
With email setup on your domain you can not only have your own account but filter messages using aliases. For instance a sales@ email address for new enquiries, accounts@ for financial mail and anything else you fancy!
There are a few options for powering your email accounts
Microsoft exchange hosting
With managed exchange you can do more than just send and receive messages. You can share calendars, folders and contacts with each synchronised automatically. You are always connected, whether you're in the office, travelling or working from home.
Using exchange you also get peace of mind that your emails are always secure, backed up and available.
POP & IMAP hosting
If you don't feel that exchange is for you, then you can still get all the benefits of having a personalized email address. A POP or IMAP account is a cost effective way or doing this.
POP
This is ideal if you only check and read your email on a single computer. This is because messages are downloaded when your check them and as a result the amount of email storage open to you is only restricted by the space on your machine.
There is a downside however. If your computer breaks down then you may lose all of your messages, and if you do check your email on mulitple machines or programmes you can end up with messages scattered about.
IMAP
If you'd like to be able to use your email account in multiple locations on different computers then we recommend IMAP. All your email is stored on the server and is synced to your desktop(s). Also if you have a computer failure then your messages are all safe.
If you use the 'keep mail on server' feature on a POP account, we also recommend you consider switching to IMAP.
